G. Rio School is a co-educational residential institution located in Kohima, the capital city of Nagaland. The school was established in loving memory of our late father, Mr. Guolhoulie Rio, and is managed by the G. Rio Foundation Society.

The school was formally inaugurated on 14^th December 2005 by the Hon’ble Governor of Nagaland, Shri Shyamal Dutta, and was dedicated by the State Chaplain, Reverend Deo Vihienuo.

G. Rio School is affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and follows the curriculum prescribed by the Board, with a strong emphasis on academic excellence, character formation, and the holistic development of every child.

Spread across a sprawling nine-acre campus, the school is nestled amidst lush greenery, providing a peaceful and stimulating environment away from the noise and pollution of the city. The spacious campus offers ample opportunities for outdoor activities, sports, recreation, and learning beyond the classroom.

The school has a strength of approximately 1,300–1,400 students, supported by 75 qualified and experienced teachers and 85 dedicated support staff, who work together to provide a safe, nurturing, and enriching educational environment.

The school is well equipped with modern science and computer laboratories, a well-stocked library, playing fields, dedicated play areas for younger children, parks, an auditorium, a canteen, and excellent hostel facilities for both boys and girls.

Recognising the importance of education beyond academics, G. Rio School offers a wide range of co-curricular and extra-curricular programmes, including NCC, painting, sculpture, graphic design, photography, dance, Taekwondo, and instrumental music. These programmes provide students with opportunities to discover their talents, develop confidence, cultivate creativity, and acquire essential life skills.
